Everyone these days is talking about blogs and the power of BLOGGING! Blogging is powerful but many people get confused about how to best use a blog site. Me too, sometimes

Blog sites, in my opinion, are best used to get people to know you, like you, and trust you. Blog sites help maintain a relationship between you and the reader.

Blogs sites, typically, are not list-building tools! I repeat, blog sites typically are not list-building tools!

That’s why the Internet Gods created Squeeze pages.

Squeeze pages are an essential part of list-building.

In the beginning the Internet Gods were granted the very first squeeze page. It was long and narrow but had a great call to action (in written form). There was usually a great Headline… much like today. It was kind of like this, “Who else wants to get so much traffic to their website that their host provider warns them that their site might be shut down?”

But then the Old style squeeze page had a lot of words, too many in my opinion, and it required that you use the scroll bar to get to the end. Once it got to the end, you were asked to provide your your “full name” and email address to get your free gift!

They worked!

Then they kind of stopped working because they were, well, ugly.

Now Squeeze pages can be sexy!

No, I’m not talking porn here, I’m talking eye-candy video’s, a wider page and an opt-in section that just makes you want to jump in and get that free GIFT.

No more scrolling. The video and “call to action (opt-in)” are right there in front of you the whole time.

Now today on our “coffeetime” show, JQ (aka The Professor) created a simple but very accurate video showing what new squeeze pages are all about!

I know, frustrating eh?

So back to the Blogs.

Blogging is great and blogging is hugely important but to start out just blogging and not driving people to a highly attractive squeeze page that is specifically designed to collect names and email addresses would be making a big mistake. You will be frustrated and pulling your hair out!

You need to do both. drive traffic to your opt-in page. Give them something that solves a problem. Thank them and redirect them to your blog site. Shhhhh. Don’t tell too many people about this!
